So, the deadline is extended until April 14th. As long as it's April 14th somewhere in the world, you're not late in submitting your fic. :)

April 5: Default Deadline!
Apr. 2nd, 2014 11:41 pmboundbooksApril 5, 2014 is the default deadline! April 5 is the last day to default with zero penalties. Here's a quick reminder for exchange participants about extensions.

Unfortunately, extensions are not possible, for reasons given in this comment thread from the 2012 Exchange. If you find yourself in a pickle with your story, that comment thread also offers possible solutions.
Anyhow, it is time to call for pinch-hitters! If you're interested in pinch-hitting, here's the relevant information from the main FAQ:
"I'd like to participate in Otter and Ferret as a pinch-hitter. What should I do?
Pinch-hit assignments will be sent out via that mailing list, and claiming of pinch-hit assignments is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I had a great time reading everyone's sign-ups, and I think that we'll see some excellent stories in April!
Some Quick Reminders
Remember, you only have to incorporate a minimum of one prompt; you don't have to use all of the prompts. Also, you do not have to incorporate all of their likes into your fic. Presumably you might wish to use whichever of their likes/preferences inspire you, but there's no hard-and-fast required number.
However, please do not include any of their 'do not want's/triggers/dealbreakers. Also, please do not exceed their highest requested rating.

I've got the matching done on paper, but I'd forgotten that the process on AO3 requires the following:
1. Ask AO3's computers to do the matching, in order to give me a list to work with.
2. Manually change all the computer's matching to what I really wanted
3. Send out matches
Unfortunately, I'm currently stuck on the first step. I'm not sure how long it will take AO3's computers to do the matching, but it may be a day or two.

What's a Reverse Challenge?
Whereas some fests have an author writing a story which is then given to an artist to create art based on that story, a 'Reverse Challenge' inverts it so that artists create images first, and authors then write works inspired by the images. The first phase is the initial creation period for the artists, at the end of which their work will be submitted. Once we have all submissions, we'll match the art to the authors that have signed up to participate. Because there are in general more writers than artists in our fandom, each piece will likely have more than one fic inspired by it. The art and the fic will be presented together once posting begins.
TIMELINE: SEPTEMBER 2013 - FEBRUARY 2014
September 7th - 21st: Artist and Author sign-ups
September 21st - November 9th: Artist Creation period
11:59pm, November 9th: Art Due
November 9th - 23rd: Assignments sent to Authors
November 23rd - January 18th: Author Creation Period
