How to Submit and How to Default
Although works are not due for another two weeks, it's now time to strongly consider whether or not you think you'll be able to make the deadline.
If you don't think you'll be able to make the April 16th deadline, please consider defaulting. There's no penalty for defaulting within the next three days, and defaulting by the end of April 5th will give me plenty of time to find a pinch-hitter! Don't sweat the exact hour of the deadline, it's really more of a 'when I get around to checking the list of defaults on April 6th' kind of deadline.
If you need to default, but would still like to give your work to your recipient at some future date, there are two official options.
Of course, as long as you're not one of the exchange-participants, you are not required to post work inspired by/written for Otter and Ferret prompts to the Otter and Ferret AO3 collections. However, posting to those collections will allow you to notify the recipient and make it easier for more readers to find you. :)
On to the submission and default instructions!
How to Submit:
You'll be able to see the work, because you are the author. No one else except for myself and you will be able to see the work until it is revealed. If you see the hit counter go up 2-3 hits, that's just because I'm reading your fic! If you want to double check, just log out of AO3 and go back to your own profile page. You'll see a 'Mystery Work' listed, but be unable to access it.
There are no required headers. However, you may wish to fill out the AO3 warnings, if appropriate, ratings, and label information such as fandom(s), characters, pairings and other tags, to make it easier for readers to find your work.
How to Default:

- If it's a shorter work and completed before Otter and Ferret 2012 works are revealed, post it during the Otter and Ferret Mini-Fest 2012, which is for works under 1,000 words. The Mini-Fest will be open for posting from April 17th - 27th.
- If it's a work that's 1,000+ words and/or completed after Otter and Ferret 2012 works are revealed, post it to Otter and Ferret Forever 2012, which will open on April 17th and have works revealed on May 5th. This collection will be open from April 17th - January 14th, 2013.
